Wonton Soup

Ingredients
  • 8-12 pieces of frozen wonton. You can either make it from scratch or get pre-made ones from asian grocery store. If you decide to get the frozen ones, please make sure you know which one you want to get either cooked or uncooked ones. (Please see a link below for how to make chicken wonton from scratch)
  • Bok Choy - ½ pounds (You can add more or less according to your preference.)
  • Half pound of chicken - cut them into small chunks or grind them into ground chicken
  • Chicken Broth - 1 liter. It is the main ingredient. You can make your own stock or get it from any grocery store
  • Chopped green onion - 2 tbsp
  • Salt, Sugar, Soy Sauce, Chicken Powder
  • Fried garlic, slides of lime, hot sauce.
  • Instructions
  • Step 1: Add two 2 cups of water into the pot and let it boil
  • Step 2 : Add ground chicken (optional) or wontons into the boiling water and then let it sit for the next 10-15mns. Take the wontons out after the first 10mns and continue letting the chicken cook for another 5mns.
  • Step 3: After 15mns, add the chicken broth into the pot. You can add up to a liter of the chicken broth.
  • Step 4: When it’s boiling, start adding some salt, sugar, and soy sauce to the soup. Make sure you taste at least once if it needs extra salt or sugar. When the taste is perfect and the meat is cooked, you can go ahead and add Bok Choy into the soup. Remember, Bok Choy cooks really fast, so let it boil for 2-3 minutes and then turn off the heat.
  • Step 5: Some people love to have wonton soup with noodles, so you can get a half pack of ramen from any brand you like and let it boil in the soup for another 30 seconds. Remember, don’t cook ramen too long. Soaky noodles can ruin the taste. So cooking it for 30 seconds is perfect.
  • Step 6: Now the wonton soup is ready but before that, don’t forget to place it in a bowl with some decorations if you would like. Then add the chopped green onion on top along with the black pepper. Black pepper will make the flavor of the soup to another level especially if you like spicy. Last but not least, fried garlic does really help your soup become really tasty. So make sure you add it as well. You also can add hot sauce. The brand I usually have is Sriracha. It has the flavor of sweet and sour. It compliments the soup really well.
  • Now the soup is ready to serve. Enjoy your wonton soup!
